The USRP driver comes with the SDR4All Toolbox. You have hence to install first the SDR4All toolbox: Check this page.

This page is about a manual installation of the driver.

About the USRP driver

The USRP is an USB card which works which driver is installed twice. When you plug the card to electrical power, you can observe on the card a green led which blinks at a fast rate. This means that the USB firmware is not loaded into the card. You have to install a driver so that windows recognize the card.

Then, when you launch a GNU Radio software or a SDR4All software, a USB firmware is loaded into the card. Seen from Windows, the USRP card is a new card. The driver has hence to be install again.

This means that if you want to change the driver version, you have to process as follows:

  • Unplug the electrical power of the card.
  • Replug it.
  • The card is recognized by windows. Remove the libusb driver.
  • Unplug and replug the USB cable
  • Install the SDR4All driver. It stands usually in the directory C:\Program Files\SDR4All Toolbox\Drivers. Choose the file USRP.inf
  • Launch SDR4All server. Your card may appear for an instant into the list of card and then disappears.
  • Go to the peripheral management page. Uninstall again the libusb driver.
  • Unplug and plug again the USB cable.
  • Install the SDR4All driver.
  • Go back to SDR4All server and check that the USRP information appears on the software.
